Welcome to the Colestin Valley Website!
This draft of a few web site is a preliminary experiment to find out who is interested in working together to put useful resources online for local residents and visitors.
Please browse around the site and let us know what you think. Is it useful? Would you come back to it? What's missing that would help you? Do you have a website you'd like to be linked in here? Do you offer services you want others to know about? Are there activities you'd like to announce?
In addition to the links shown above, we are thinking it would be useful to
- Put an online version of the Valley Buzz online. (Wouldn't it be great to have an index of things tips our neighbors have shared in past issues?)
- Classified ads in the Community section (I'd rather let my neighbors know about my extra CDs than try to take them to EBay, or a flea market.)
- List various business, services, and interests people would like to share about.
- Activities seciont could have links to Ashland Events and possibly our own calendar of Valley Events, or announcements.
- Links to the ODOT Web Cams and online weather information.
- There can also be a community bulletin board area, or a chat area where
people can write about local interests and issues.
- It would be handy to have a 24/7 info central if there is another train derailment, fire, drought, or anything else that involves all of us. Posting online could save time and effort for the Fire District.
- It could also help with exploring the possibility of a direct WIFI connection broadcast from Mt. Ashland, as a way of finding out who's interested, since we're probably not going to get DSL or Cable anytime soon.
- Web Cam of the Mountain. Some of us could devote web cams to view of the valley for our own road, weather, and fire monitoring.
Photos or graphics will be gratefully accepted.
We're
open to more ideas, and want to make this a cooperative venture.
